Power Play with Gill Electronics

Industry Standard: A4WP

Challenge: Gill Electronics wanted to create a transmitter for furniture but found its wire-based resonator was cumbersome and difficult to manufacture. They needed a High Q, low ESR resonator that was designed for manufacturability.

NuCurrent Power Play: Within 30 business days, NuCurrent provided a printed solution for high efficiency resonators that were simple to assemble and produced the highest Q through NuCurrent’s patented MLMT technology.

Outcome: NuCurrent resonators power Gill Electronics Inc.’s TesLink™ Through Surface Transmitter, the first commercial product in support of the A4WP Rezence™ standard.

As consumers seek freedom from being tied to a cord, demand for wireless recharging continues to explode. Electronic device OEMs and integrators rush to meet this demand by building efficient wireless power capabilities into accessories, smartphones, cars and the places we visit every day like the coffee shop and office. Competition is intense, and being first to market can be critical for success.

NuCurrent’s rapid delivery of its High Efficiency/High Q resonators with mechanically simple form factor helped Gill Electronics become the first company to bring an A4WP Rezence™ product to the commercial market.

The TesLink transmitter from Gill attaches to the bottom of any non-metallic surface. This enables the work surface above to be ready for wireless charging, without unsightly and damaging drill holes. By placing devices equipped with an A4WP Rezence compatible receiver in the charging area, they charge just as quickly as they would by plugging in via a cord.

NuCurrent’s patented ML Wire and MLMT antenna technology also allow end-users to experience the benefits of greater wireless power transfer distance and flexibility in positioning their devices on the charging surface.

The Rezence-based wireless charging products are currently available in furniture from manufacturers such as OFS Brands, Kimball Office and National Office.
