Junior  Embedded Software Engineer for Wireless Power Solutions

Experience: BS Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent with 0-3 years relevant experience

Role Description: NuCurrent is looking for a Junior Embedded Software Engineer who is motivated to work closely with a talented and diverse engineering group to bring hardware and software together to deliver end customer products.  The candidate will work very closely with senior software and hardware engineers to design and bring custom boards up from scratch, and exhibit strong cultural values that put the customer first, go beyond the standard, show strong ownership, innovate further, and show strong people skills.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

  • Develop embedded software to operate wireless power systems in industries spanning consumer electronics, automotive, industrial and medical
  • Support the software development effort – from spec development to software delivery – of product-ready embedded code in wireless power systems
  • Interact with key IC partners to allow for seamless integration of custom embedded code into wireless reference platforms
  • Interact with key customers to integrate NuCurrent’s solution for embedded systems

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Sr software engineers to develop features that have a high degree of hardware/software interaction
  • Develop re-usable, scalable, and testable embedded software that can be easily adopted into a diverse range of products
  • Work collaboratively with strategic IC partners to integrate embedded software solutions
  • Establish and maintain software timelines to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Contribute to the development of Intellectual Property

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Candidate must have on-the-job experience writing software for 8-bit or 32-bit bare metal systems in C
  • Strong written & verbal communications skills, and good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to speak professionally in front of customers and technology partners
  • Ability to understand electrical hardware schematics and PCB layout
  • Experience with standard hardware bus interfaces, such as USB, UART, I2C and SPI
  • Proficiency in use of basic electrical tools, i.e. oscilloscope, multimeter, soldering tools
  • Demonstrated success in resolution of technical challenges leveraging strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work individually and in small teams that may include contractors working remotely
  • Experience using version control systems such as Github and SVN

PREFERABLE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Experience with software verification & testing
  • Experience with NFC or Qi wireless power standards
  • Experience with Freescale/NXP microcontrollers
  • Experience with instrument control
  • Familiarity with RTOS or low-level schedulers
  • Python, Bash scripting experience
  • Linux experience
