Collaboration between PopLabs division and wireless power leader aims to advance technology capabilities for over 100 Million PopSockets users

(CHICAGO & BOULDER, COLO. – DECEMBER 20, 2019) – NuCurrent, an industry leader in wireless power systems and technology development, and PopSockets, a leading global mobile accessory manufacturer announce a strategic technology innovation partnership. NuCurrent and PopSockets’ innovation division, PopLabs, will collaborate on future product developments aimed at giving PopSockets’ customers innovative electronic features and functionality.

Founded in 2014 with a mission to merge function with self-expression, PopSockets has sold 160 million PopSockets PopGrips around the world. To accelerate product innovation, PopSockets created its PopLabs division for sourcing, developing, evaluating, testing, and launching new offerings and technologies. As PopSockets looked to incorporate electronics into its product roadmap, it turned to NuCurrent, which has been developing breakthrough wireless power technologies and delivering wireless power systems to product teams for over a decade.

“Innovation is at the core of the PopSockets brand, and NuCurrent is helping us achieve some very ambitious goals,” said Altan Nahum, VP of Engineering and PopLabs Director at PopSockets. “We want to bring more fun and expressive functionality to our customers, and NuCurrent helps us do that through their core technologies and expertise in wireless power.”

NuCurrent’s core technologies deliver greater separation distance, faster charging speeds, and less heat, particularly in small, space-constrained devices. Additionally, the company’s design simulation capabilities and system integration expertise shorten product development times while minimizing risk and controlling manufacturing costs.

“PopSockets has built an incredible brand and customer following by developing fun, useful products that help people in their everyday lives,” said Tim Tumilty, VP of Sales and Marketing, NuCurrent. “We’re thrilled to share our technology and expertise with them and are excited about supporting their efforts to explore new ways to enhance and expand their product offerings.”

PopSockets products featuring NuCurrent technologies are expected to be available in the first half of 2020.
