NuCurrent contributes actively in the NFC Forum Wireless Charging Task Force, the working group that develops the technical specifications for NFC-based wireless power transfer. Engineering contributions cover coil geometry, thermal envelopes, communication protocols, and certification test methods.
The current focus of the task force is extending NFC Wireless Charging to 3W-class charging, enabling reliable, standardized charging for a much wider range of devices. The IEC is adopting the specification as an international standard. We are inside that work.

Qi2 is the current generation of the Wireless Power Consortium’s specification for inductive wireless charging. NuCurrent contributed directly to its technical development. Our engineers sit inside the working groups that define the specification.
For device makers building to Qi2, this matters. It means our reference designs are optimized against the specification by people who helped write it. Certification is faster. Edge cases are understood before they become field failures.
The International Electrotechnical Commission is the body that turns industry specifications into internationally recognized standards. NuCurrent works with the NFC Forum to move NFC Wireless Charging through the IEC pathway. The result, when complete, will be a wireless charging standard with the regulatory weight of any global electrical standard. We help shape that trajectory
